What Is Hyperpigmentation?
Hyperpigmentation is a skin disorder, characterized with dark areas on the skin, and it is caused by excess secretion of melanin in the organism. It is also characterized by the dark pigment of the skin. Other reasons for the disorders of the melanin are: exposed to sunlight, pregnancy, certain diseases, aging or trauma.
The reasons for melanin disorder can be internal or external. Internal factors are usually inborn and they are especially common for people with dark skin tone. External factors are: exposure to chemicals like progesterone, estrogen, minocycline, betaxolol, and sunlight. Ultraviolet rays cause stains, spots and freckles which can bring about permanent or temporary discoloration.
Hyperpigmentation can also be caused by traumas or surgeries, and in these cases the spots remain longer.
Melasma is a hyperpigmentation of the skin that happens during pregnancy. It can affect men as well. Melasma is also known as the mask of pregnancy because of the brown spots that appear on the face, mainly the nose and cheeks. Luckily, these spots disappears after childbirth and do not cause any major problems.
Natural remedy for hyperpigmentation
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder (turmeric)
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
Combine both the ingredients and apply the mixture on the affected area of the skin.
Leave the solution to act for about 15 minutes or until it gets dry. After 15 minutes, rinse the area with cold water.
You should not expose your skin to sunlight after this treatment.
Repeat the treatment once or twice a day, and you will notice the improvement of your skin.
