The home to a huge population of hummingbirds is the city of Sedona, Arizona. It is very common for residents to see up to 2,000 hummingbirds a day. The city even has a Sedona Hummingbird Festival in the species’ honor. It is happening once every year.
Despite the fact that the hummingbird population in Sedona may be anticipated, the weather there cannot. In February 2011, the evening was very cold. The temperatures hit below freezing. The freezing weather was sufficient to potentially threaten the lives of the wintering hummingbirds who frequented one man’s backyard feeder. YouTube user “blueskeye” went above and beyond to ensure that his feathered friends, Rocky and Adrian, were safe, warm and properly fed. He decided to put a heating pad for the two birds.
The night was frigid. The following morning he was nervous and walked outside in order to check on Rocky and Adrian. He was excited by the surprise that greeted him in his backyard.
Watch this wonderful video. It will touch your heart. No creature is too small to receive love and care. One YouTube commenter said: “It is wonderful to know that there are others out there who see members of other species as individuals, individuals with needs and wants.”
