It is more than often this problem with domestic violence. So do not wander what it means that black dot on someone’s hand. This black dot campaign is going on and has the purpose to spread the hope of drawing some much needed attention to victims of domestic violence. So if you notice a person with black dot of the palm on the hand that means that that person is victim of domestic violence and needs help.
Many of the victims suffer in silence and this black dot idea is opportunity to give them a way to get away and get help an in the same time to protect them or minimize the further torture or danger.
There are a lot of pros and positive feedback for the campaign.
Take it all into consideration this is a very good idea. No matter what type of help or purpose is one step further in solving the problem for the victims in proper way.
When it comes to the issue of domestic violence the statistics are grim. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), one in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been the victim of some form of physical violence by a partner in their lifetime. In the US alone every nine seconds a woman is beaten or assaulted, an average of 20 people per minute are physically abused by a partner, and every year that adds up to more than 10 million men and women being abused.
The victims in general often had no time and opportunity to break the whole so called cycle of abusing, because are on constant watch of the abusers.
Abusers also exert various forms of control over victims that are beyond physical, and often use mental, emotional, and financial forms of it to gain and maintain control. When it comes to speaking up, many victims struggle to find their voice and be heard.
So what are the reasons for the black dot campaign in first place?
The victims are those that need all the help they ca get. In this camping for a period of 24 hours 6000 people were reached and 6 women were saved and helped. The purpose is to reach more people worldwide and to help to many men, women and even children as well.
Do not ignore that silent signal for help; if you see black dot on someone’s palm immediately call the police and try to help.
Caution: many people have drawn black dot in order to support the campaign and express solidarity. In a way that is missing the main point and instead of drawing dot supporters should instead write “Say no to domestic violence” on their hands to avoid confusion.
