Nearly everyone has this powder in their pantry. But few know what it’s good for!

An important ingredient in Indian and Chinese medicine is turmeric. The curcumin found in this plant has different medicinal benefits, including combating Alzheimer’s and cancer. It was found that turmeric is potent in helping to prevent lung, liver, and bowel disease. The bright yellow, curry-like spice has an anti-inflammatory effect, and in cases of arthritis it has particularly good results . Here are two tasty recipes that make it easy to include this natural miracle into your daily routine.

Nearly everyone has this powder in their pantry

Turmeric milk

The combination of hot milk with turmeric is still relatively not known in the Western world, despite of the fact that it is a very popular drink in India. This is a perfect winter drink because it warms you from the inside out. When you drink curcumin, it acts as a protective layer in your mouth and throat. It  makes it difficult for germs to survive there.

Necessary ingredients:

  • Organic Turmeric (ground) – 1 tsp
  • Milk or a non-dairy alternative like almond milk – 200 ml
  • Brown sugar and cinnamon – to taste

Preparation:

You should pour the milk of your choice into a pot and warm it on the stove. You do not have to boil the milk. After that, remove the pot from the heat. Add the ground turmeric. Blend the mixture until the powder is dissolved in the liquid. You can add cinnamon and/or brown sugar to this ‘golden milk’ to taste.

Hot lemon water with turmeric

This is a vitamin bomb. Lemon is rich in vitamin C content, and when mixed together with turmeric, they strengthen your immune system and protect your throat from cold-causing bacteria. Also, if you like you can add some ginger. This gives the drink a little extra zing. Ginger is known to be a natural anti-headache and anti-nausea agent. If you already have a cold, this warm drink should help you get back on your feet.

Necessary ingredients:

  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Organic Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
  • Ginger (to taste)

Preparation:

First, you shoould peel the ginger and then put it in a mug. Fill the mug 3/4 of the way full with boiling water. After that, let the water cool a bit. At temperatures above 140° F, the vitamins in lemon juice are immediately destroyed. Add the fresh lemon juice when the water has cooled down. Finally, add the turmeric, stirring until dissolved.

By drinking these two hot drinks, you will survive the winter without any problems. Try it out for yourself.
